As I lie here 'resting', I'm taken back to another fun filled day in our household.
Another day of spontaneous 'fun' (adventure in other households) in our household, yay!
So, last Monday, the 7th of November was an event I had much anticipated on attending.
This event is special for my mother, and so it was my birthday present to her.
It was a night of being with Pedro Almodovar and Antonio Banderas, at the Mann's Chinese Theatre, in celebrating with him his screening of one of his films, starring Antonio Banderas from 1987, I believe.
So, as many of my days go,I prepare ahead for my children to stay content and so, I go through a series of things to do such.
Wrapping up, just before we are to depart, I see my elder daughter scratching away at her scalp. This weather is ruthless to the scalp! Dry scalp=itchy head, right? Ya, so I thought! It's lice! ICK! Disgusting! Gross! Totally normal. That's it you may say to my disgust! So, my moral is brought down to reality, as I'm panicked about time, traffic and what about rain+making it in time to pick up my mother, before heading to LA, UHH!
Ya, another fun filled day, huh! Running through a slew of fast typed, mispelt info online and the info still came through! I grab my keys and head to the local pharmacy, at like 30 mins to spare before I'm due to head out!
I'm 'dressed' ya, but running around with slippers(I forgot I was wearing them, til I'm standing in line and happened to look down!)
So, as I stand in line with like an arsenal of 'anti whatever's', a granny looks at me, 'Lice, huh?' Go put that poison back. Grab a narrow tooth comb and wrap the head with dish soap, then apply mayo, leave a plastic bag on overnight, end of lice...This time! My kids, each of the 10 had to go through this many times over, until I shaved the boys' head.'
She began to share with me her tale, with such detail I could include it into a step by step recipe. I'm outta breath, thanking her, run back home and begin the process. My daughter rides with us to LA, bag on her hair.
Aroma of dish soap and mayo...what a yummy combination!
And another yummy combination: Almodovar+Banderas!
What a thrill I lived that day.
Another fun filled day in my life!
By the way, round 2 of 'another fun filled day' includes what happened with Antonio at the Chinese Theatre!
Oh, what a fun filled day it was indeed!
